Lawrence Tse

Lawrence is a co-founder and partner of Gobi Partners.He has extensive experience in the field of venture capital and worked closely with a number of technology start-ups in both the U.S. and Greater China. He previously served as an Associate at WI Harper Group (“WIH”) where he helped identify, evaluate and pursue early-stage technology and media investments. Lawrence participated in the firm’s investments in Asia2B and MyRice. He was actively involved with company acquisitions, asset disposals and corporate restructuring when portfolio companies faced increasing challenges during the economic downturn from 2000 to 2002. Lawrence architected Asian expansion strategies for US-based start-ups that were seeking to capture the high growth opportunities in the Greater China markets.

Prior to joining WIH in 1999, Lawrence worked at several high-tech companies. He served as a Managed Network Service Center Engineer at Datacraft Inc., a leading independent network systems integrator in Asia, and participated in a number of corporate WAN and LAN projects in Hong Kong. Previously Lawrence worked at Sybase Inc. and completed an internship program at Microsoft Corporation.

Lawrence received a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a second major in Managerial Economics from Carnegie Mellon University where he was a member of the Eta Kappa Nu Association. He graduated from Stanford University with an M.S. in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management.
