SEO China Orientation

SEO China Orientation 2010 began on July 9th at Gobi's Shanghai Office with an inspiring speech by General Partner Thomas Tsao about this summer's expectations of the interns. He emphasized attitude as one of the key lessons to take away from this summer. Mistakes are okay this summer as long as you have a good attitude about it. The lesson was reinforced by a Gobi Company dinner – where the interns learned from firsthand experience the etiquette and skill required to be a waiter in a classy, western style restaurant. The interns' weekend was booked with guest speakers who talked about basic knowledge the interns would need for a successful summer at a venture capital firm and a career in business. Guests included experienced Gobi staff and successful SEO Alumni. In addition to these speakers, the interns were given the opportunity to sit in on a potential investment meeting and got a head start on the Venture Capital experience. The interns' first few days in a business environment were not limited to absorbing information. They were given their first interactive assignment during orientation. They split into groups and were told to research a company Gobi was interested in and come up with a presentation on a short deadline. During the process they were able to get to know each other and practice for future projects. Orientation ended July 11th, and the first day of the rest of a busy summer started the next day.
